Portbail is a beautifully traditional French port town set along a peaceful estuary, full of charm, historic buildings, and a relaxed coastal atmosphere. Centred around its church and boules area, it offers a wonderful mix of local life and places to explore. Just 10 minutes from Glatigny Farmhouse, its close proximity was one of the reasons we fell in love with this location.
Aux 13 Arches is one of our favourite places to enjoy seafood in Portbail, known for serving fresh, locally caught dishes often sourced just a few miles away. The setting feels a little more refined, making it perfect for a special meal, yet it still offers excellent value in true French style. The quality of the food and overall experience make it well worth a visit, and we would recommend booking in advance.
Au Rendez-vous des Pêcheurs is a lovely local fish restaurant overlooking the estuary, making it a perfect spot to visit as the sun begins to set. The food is fresh, high-quality, and very reasonably priced, offering a true taste of the area. While the menu focuses on seafood rather than classics like a croque madame, it remains one of our favourite places to return to.
Le Bac à Sable, just outside Portbail at Lindbergh Plage, is a relaxed beachside spot with a wonderfully laid-back atmosphere. Known for its cool setting and regular live music, it is a great place to unwind by the sea. As opening times can vary, it is best to call ahead and make a booking before visiting.
Located in the town square, the tourism office is a wonderful starting point for discovering Portbail and the wider Manche region. You can find helpful advice on local attractions, transport, and experiences, along with useful leaflets available both here and at Glatigny Farmhouse.
